I think sometimes you underestimate how much something means to you until you no longer have access to it on a regular basis. My sister and I have been through a lot together, and this last year has not been the easiest. Before, we were only a (relatively) short 7 hour drive away from each other, with her in San Francisco, and me in Los Angeles/ San Diego. Now, we're 1,600 miles away from each other, and it's rough. One thing that we've realized is that home is not a house or a building, or a city, or even a region, but home is wherever you are with the people you love. This, for that week I was there, was home.
I got a chance to spend some time with her in San Francisco before going to my old Young Life leader's wedding, and we got to explore around SF with two of my friends from Invisible Children. It was awesome being tourists all day & having some beautiful models along the way.
