Over the next couple of weeks, I have the honor of sharing Lauren and Holt's love story with you all! Not only are these two so photogenic, kind, and loving, but they also know what it means to love Jesus and love others well. Their love story deserves to be yelled from the mountaintops! I'll be sharing images from their proposal, engagement session and wedding.
If you are in need of a great love story, follow along. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Lauren and Holt were brave souls and decided that, after their fun surprise engagement party, they were willing to wake up before sunrise to drive to the top of a hill in San Luis Obispo and do some portraits as the sun came up. These two were hilarious, fun, and so drunk on love that it was contagious. Even without having coffee before this shoot (which, if you know me, is a big deal!), I was wide awake and full of energy because of these two!
How did you know he was "the One"?
"If you want the story that'll make you laugh, here's the crowd pleaser. I (Lauren) knew I wanted him to be by my side through thick and thin when we were on a walk one day at Woodleaf. We were going down a pretty steep hill covered in loose leaves when my clumsy lanky legs misplaced their flailing footing and out they went from under me, leaving me flat on my behind. Quickly my face turned as red as it did on night one of meeting, and I giggled to fill the awkward silence. Without hesitation Holt knelt down beside me and uttered, "What hurts more... your butt, or your pride?" Pride, I answered quickly, pride.
More than the laughs and the fun we shared together, Holt and I experienced something so new, so radically different than anything we ever had before. We truly couldn't help but be drawn to one another. The thing I remember most about that first day sitting next to the lifeguard stand by the water slides is the way he embodied the humility and confidence of Christ simultaneously, with such freedom and ease. Over the next month of serving side by side, he never ceased to stop displaying his weaknesses as a man, but strengths in knowing he was saved, redeemed, transformed, and set apart by who Jesus is. And because of that belief in the truth of what Jesus did and continues to do, the love of God was pouring out of him onto every single person he came in contact with. He inspired hope even when he was honest in his most broken mess. That's when I knew I had to be around him, because he gave off the aroma of Christ." - Lauren
How did you know she was "the One"?
"The thing I (Holt) remember most about that first day sitting on the lifeguard stand by the waterslides is the way that Lauren lit up when the first group of kids rolled into camp. "Summer" by Calvin Harris was blasting over the speakers and I've never seen such pure and honest joy radiate from someone. Her laugh and her smile are contagious in the way that she genuinely and wholeheartedly loves people. Within the first few days of us meeting, I can tell you that I knew. I knew because I have never in my life met someone who loves the Lord and loves people with such intentionality and yet ease. She offers grace when it is undeserved, she listens with an open mind, she cares when no one else does, and she pays close attention to detail and catches what most others often overlook enabling her tailor the way she cares for and loves each and every person she comes in contact with. She was made to love and I was immediately drawn to her.
Over the next month, I was fortunate enough to watch her change countless lives while serving side by side. I watched as Lauren spent hours on top of the "Blob tower" coaxing a special girl to jump and experience the excitement and fun of "blobbing." I listened from afar as she poured out the gospel through the metaphor of jumping and trusting what we cannot see. When the girl finally jumped two hours later, Lauren came over and gave me the sweetest most exhausted hug. In that moment, I knew. I knew that my life would never be the same. I knew that I had found a partner—a person to love and to trust and to depend on through the good times and the bad.
Now here we are, a wild 7 months later, engaged to be married and without doubt we see the way God uses our strengths and weaknesses to compliment one another, encouraging, challenging, and supporting one another, to better share the gospel together than we could apart. Praise the Lord for love and all the feel-goods that come with it, but I am so much more excited for a lifetime of learning more about Jesus and what it means to live in pursuit of God's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven—a lifetime of learning how to love the Lord with all we have, and how to love our neighbors, friends, family, enemies, strangers and everyone in between the way our heavenly Father intended us to." -Holt
