I have had the honor of sharing Lauren and Holt's love story with you all over the last couple of weeks! Not only are these two so photogenic, kind, and loving, but they also know what it means to love Jesus and love others well. Their love story deserves to be yelled from the mountaintops!
If you are in need of a great love story, follow along. I promise you won't be disappointed.
The stage was set. Holt and Lauren set a date for late August at the breathtaking Holland Ranch in San Luis Obispo. From the moment we dropped Brian off with the guys while they surfed, and Halli and I arrived to hang out with the gals while they did some morning yoga, we all knew that this was going to be, not only beautiful, but so intentional and full of real, authentic love. I could go on and on forever about how amazing this day was, but I want Lauren to be able to tell about this day through her own account. Enjoy her story and the images that accompany it.
"The wedding day was truly such a whirlwind, like a slow motion film in one moment, but passing in the blink of an eye. I woke up early that morning, giggling with all my closest gal pals. They all left to go on breakfast and coffee runs, and I stayed back, put on my wedding dress, and spent some holy, sacred, moments with Jesus. That brought me such joy and peace I can hardly describe it. The boys were out surfing, and us girls were doing some silly yoga to start the morning."
"Then everyone showered and headed to the venue and from there it was lots of getting ready and freaking out about last minute details I might have forgotten and being shocked that this actually all came together and was happening and this run on sentence is clearly displaying my exact emotions in that period of time. I was trying desperately to cherish all the moments, all the while yearning for the moment I got to see Holt."
"We decided to do a first look, and for us that was such a special and intimate time together. On a day that is supposed to be a celebration of the union of two people, it felt like so much of our time was going to spent with and around all of our friends and family--which HELLO so incredibly special and rare--but we wanted some good quality time and the first look was just that."
"Walking down the aisle and seeing Holt's face was a moment I'll never forget. The friends and family sitting in the audience became a blur, creating tunnel vision where my eyes landed only on Holt. I've tried to memorize and savor every second of that walk so that 40 years from now when I've forgotten so much, I still remember that."
Not only does Young Life tie into this story because Lauren & Holt met at a Young Life camp, but they both are Young Life leaders. Before the wedding, Lauren was a leader in San Luis Obispo, and Holt led in Texas. Lauren decided to make all of her Young Life girls Junior Bridesmaids and got them all flower crowns to wear during the wedding. How sweet!
"Because the next four hours seemed like a total blur. From what was said during the ceremony, to the photos taken, to dinner, and dancing, it all blew by. The night ended with an epic dance party which exceeded both of our hopes and dreams."
Out of all of the weddings we shot last year, Lauren and Holt's dance party was definitely the most epic! With Dana McGregor / Surfing Goats as the DJ and all of the crazy ribbons, the yellow suit, a leaf blower, and trophies- everyone had the best time on that dance floor!
"We drove away (after stalling only a couple of times) and just looked at each other in awe. At that moment, we looked at each other, beyond grateful for the most incredible celebration with all of these people we love so deeply. And yet we were ecstatic and completely in awe that we were finally husband and wife, a unit, a team, partners for all of life forever. That was by far the best moment of the whole entire day. As we drove off, we were alone, and a hot mess from the dance party, and exhausted in every way, but we were together like we had never been before. We were husband and wife."
